Our Deck Installation Process
How long does it take to build a deck? Every circumstance and every job is different.
We will walk you through the steps of the average deck construction process and
how long each step takes.
Step 1: Book an appointment
Book a free site visit with your deck specialist. If you book during the peak summer season, expect a visit to be scheduled within one to two weeks. During the off-season we usually can get this scheduled within one or two days.
Step 2: The Visit
The visit will involve finding out what your remodeling needs are, inspecting and measuring the site. We will also use this time to pick out styles, colors, options and layout. This process takes about 90 to 120 minutes.
Step 3: The Quote
We will email a detailed quote with layout and pricing. This can take another week, to two weeks to receive based on time of year and if the client requests a change.
Step 4: Contract and Deposit
When your quote has been received and approved a contract will be sent electronically for your signature and a deposit. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is received, a permit will be pulled. This can take another week or so.
Step 5: The Installation
Next is the fun part! Construction of a new deck frame. If your deck requires demolition of an existing deck, that will be followed by building footings, constructing the new deck, and installing the railings and steps. All this is weather permitting. This process usually only takes a week or so.
As deck contractors, we anticipate weather conditions. We keep our schedule fluid to work with the weather. If needed, we can easily tarp around the job site during poor weather conditions, and we always keep our clients informed of weather issues.
There will always be a production manager overseeing the process of building your deck. Since we are a local Maryland family-owned business, we have a full-time staff dedicated to assist with any questions or concerns you may have during the process.
